We have had a very busy few weeks here in Ms. Carry’s 5th class. Before the midterm break we all researched and created projects based on our favourite myths and legends from all over the world. This was great fun and we really enjoyed presenting our projects to the other 5th classes in the Halla. We listened to each other telling the stories Cú Chulainn, Medusa, Oisín and Tír na nÓg, the Phoenix and many more interesting myths and legends from all over the world, including the myth Pineapple, which comes from the Philippines.
This month we are learning all about our local environment and we have been examining maps of the locality and identifying all the changes which have occurred in this area over the years. In Science we are learning about different types of animals and classifying them into different groups including mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds and fish.
We have started reading our new class novel The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo and we are really enjoying it so far. Over the next few weeks we are starting to learn how to knit, which we are all really looking forward to.
