Mr. Byrne and Ms. Carry have recently started to teach the children in their class the art of knitting. Knitting has a long history in Ireland and can be a very useful skill to have. They started off last week casting on their stitches in preparation for knitting. All of the students were very enthusiastic about it and were very persistent with this difficult art. Hopefully over the next few weeks, we should have some lovely squares and maybe some scarves!
I hope you are all keeping well. We fully appreciate that the past few months have been incredibly challenging and we are looking forward to getting back to some sense of normality as the school sets to reopen on Thursday 27th of August. We are currently putting plans in place for the safe reopening of our school and we will be sharing all the relevant information with you over the coming weeks. We will be using this Aladdin platform to communicate this important information. There will need to be significant changes to the way we usually operate in terms of movement around the school building and in terms of the delivery of the curriculum but we plan to take all the necessary steps to ensure the safe and successful reintegration of every child in our school.
In other news, after almost 8 years as Principal of Scoil Ghráinne CNS the time has come for me to move on. I have really enjoyed my time as the Principal of Scoil Ghráinne and I am very proud of our collective achievements over the years. Scoil Ghráinne is a great school and I wish my successor the very best of luck in their new role. I have been appointed as the Director of Schools within Kildare and Wicklow ETB (KWETB) and I am really looking forward to this new and exciting challenge. I will remain in the school until mid-September and I will let you all know when my replacement has been appointed.
