The school would like to extend a huge congratulations to the three quiz teams that took part in the Credit Union Schools Quiz on Monday 30th January. There were over 30 teams from schools in the locality participating. There were 12 rounds of some very challenging questions but one of our school quiz teams came in 1st place to claim the title this year with a very impressive 59 out of 72. Our other 2 teams did extremely well also, finishing very high on the score board. The team of Josh, Aaron, Claire and Hazel from 6th class were on the winning team. This is the second quiz won by the school this year. Well done to all of the other children on the teams who worked so hard for the competition. Mr. Byrne and Ms. Moloney are very proud of you (Jody -4th class, Ben-5th class, Shruthi, Daniel, Karolina, Neha, Promise and Jeffrey – 6th class). the winning team now go on to represent the school in more rounds of the Credit Union Quiz in March.
I hope you are all keeping well. We fully appreciate that the past few months have been incredibly challenging and we are looking forward to getting back to some sense of normality as the school sets to reopen on Thursday 27th of August. We are currently putting plans in place for the safe reopening of our school and we will be sharing all the relevant information with you over the coming weeks. We will be using this Aladdin platform to communicate this important information. There will need to be significant changes to the way we usually operate in terms of movement around the school building and in terms of the delivery of the curriculum but we plan to take all the necessary steps to ensure the safe and successful reintegration of every child in our school.
In other news, after almost 8 years as Principal of Scoil Ghráinne CNS the time has come for me to move on. I have really enjoyed my time as the Principal of Scoil Ghráinne and I am very proud of our collective achievements over the years. Scoil Ghráinne is a great school and I wish my successor the very best of luck in their new role. I have been appointed as the Director of Schools within Kildare and Wicklow ETB (KWETB) and I am really looking forward to this new and exciting challenge. I will remain in the school until mid-September and I will let you all know when my replacement has been appointed.
