Monday 10th June 2019 was a very proud day in the sporting history of Scoil Ghráinne. Our boys won the first Shield trophy in front of 300 fans who braved the elements to shout on their team. On the day goals from Ephraim Bukasa proved decisive as we defeated St. Mary’s of Saggart 3-1 to 2-2. It was a very tough match and the boys had to overhaul a four-point deficit to come out on top. Captain Paul Steopan lifted the trophy and he himself was lifted shoulder high by his teammates!
Training had started in January with 8am sessions every Monday before school. It was amazing to see the progression in skills and the quality of our play increase due to the boys commitment and that of the teachers that gave up their time to train them. Hopefully this will be just the first step in many more hurling and camogie successes for Scoil Ghráinne in future!
