Fáilte roimh chuig Seomra Dearg!
Everyone in Seomra Dearg is enjoying being back in school with their old friends and new. We are no longer the youngest in the school and love being in Senior Infants. This week we have been reading The Little Red Hen and learning all about the farm. We found out what animals live on a farm and what things they give us.
We even created our very own farmyard animals by cutting out all the body parts and gluing them back together. Have a look at our colourful farm!
We love to sing and dance in Seomra Dearg and have been learning lots of songs in English and as Gaeilge. One of our favourites is “Who Stole the Bread from the Big Bread Box?” And this week, we mooed, oinked, woofed and clucked along while visiting Old McDonald’s Farm.
Just like our friend, The Little Red Hen, we also planted some seeds last week and have been watching them grow. We discovered that our cress seeds need sunlight and water to grow. Check out our little farmers.
We learned all about the different parts of a plant. From the pretty flower at the top, attached to the strong stem with its leaves, all the way down to the roots, under the dirt, that drink up the water and nutrients. We made very colourful displays to show the different parts of the plant. Come and see them on display outside Seomra Dearg!
(P.S: Don’t forget to say the Secret Password if you want to come into Seomra Dearg. But remember it changes every day!!!)
