In Seomra Dearg we have been reading The Three Billy Goats Gruff this week. We enjoyed this story very much especially the character of the Troll. We loved looking at different pictures of trolls so much, we decided to make our own Trolls out of clay. We pinched and pulled the clay to form our Troll heads of all different shapes and sizes. We added texture using pencils and other tools. Next week, we hope to paint them lots of different colours.
We learned all about different animals from places all around the world. We talked about animals including tigers from Asia, koalas from Australia, penguins from Antarctica, grizzly bears from North America, lions from Africa and badgers from Europe. Everyone in the class had their personal favourite but we all agreed that we don’t want to see any of them become extinct so we need to take care of them.
In Gaeilge we have been learning all about Eadai. Be sure to ask us what clothes we are wearing if you see us around the school or at home. In PE we have been doing Gymnastics and have learned lots of new jumps and rolls. We also have practised our forward roll on the soft mats. It’s been tough work, but we’ve had lots of fun doing it.
It is an exciting time in Daily 5 in Seomra Dearg because we have gotten a new Word Work trolley with lots of fun new ways of practising our tricky words. There are lots of activities to choose from and we love watching the timer count us down to swap to the next activity. We are very excited also because next week we are also getting too choose what activity we want to do during Daily 5 all by ourselves.
Next week we are very excited as the Sam Maguire Cup is coming to visit Scoil Ghrainne along with some Dublin footballers. We have been rehearsing singing Molly Malone and will be making flags to welcome the players. Come on you Boys in Blue!!!
