In Senior Infants we are looking out for signs of Spring around the community. We talked about new life that happens all around us in Spring. The are new buds on the trees, lots of colourful flowers and we love the cute baby animals that can be seen in the fields.
We got a chance to see these signs of Spring when we took part in the Water Walk this week to celebrate World Water Day. We learned all about ways to save and not waste water, including taking more showers than baths, turning off taps and turning off the tap when we brush our teeth.
We have all become little farmers in Seomra Dearg when we planted pea plants. We added compost to our small pots and placed the pea a few centimetres into the compost. We left the peas on our windowsill because we know plants need sunlight and water to grow. It took a while, but our plants have started to shoot up now. We are very excited to be able to plant the pea plants outside in the garden in April.
Hopefully when our pea plants are fully grown in the summer we will have delicious, healthy peas to eat. For the time being, we have been getting healthy eating our Food Dudes fruit and vegetables. There have been lots of food that we loved, but a couple that we had to grow to like by tasting them. It has been fun getting all the stickers and rewards for eating our Food Dudes fruit and veg and getting strong and healthy.
This weekend it is Mothers’ Day and we are all very thankful for our brilliant mothers. We thought they deserved something nice to cheer them up, so we made them a card and a lovely springtime bouquet of flowers. We hope that all the mammies have a brilliant and restful day on Sunday. You deserve it!
We are looking forward to the Easter break coming up soon, and hope that the Spring weather turns warm so that we can get out and enjoy playing outside to keep us fit and healthy!
