5, 4, 3, 2, 1……BLAST OFF!!!
Seomra Dearg have been reading one of our favourite stories this week, “Whatever Next!“.
Baby Bear visited the moon in his rocket and had a great time. We thought it would be fun to pretend to go to the moon too, so we set up a space-station. We have had lots of fun learning all about the moon and planets, pretending we are going into space.
We talked about the differences between day and night. We decided what things we might see during the day and what things we see at night. We learned that we get day and night because the Earth does one full spin every day. We used a globe and a torch to show how the Sun shines on the Earth.
Our class is learning new sounds with 2 letters in them this term.
“When 2 vowels go walking, the first one does the talking!”
We started with ‘ai‘ and have moved onto ‘oa‘ already. Last week we made “ai trains” full of ‘ai’ words and this week we made lots of “oa boats” full of ‘oa’ words. They can be seen hanging in our classroom.
We learned that shadows are made when the light is blocked from reaching something. We tried to make shadow puppets using the light from our projector. In Art, we discovered how to make colours lighter and darker. We had great fun mixing in white and black paint to create new shades of colours.
In Gaeilge, we have been talking about our favourite ‘Bia‘ and learning lots of “amhránaí agus dánta”.
“Is maith liom cáis, Is maith liom práta. Is maith liom arán. Is maith liom tráta”
Dance has been the word on our lips (and hips) for PE. We have all been busting a move and getting our feet moving. We learned how to “Mirror Dance” with our partners and had great fun shaking and grooving to the music!
Justin Bieber and Beyoncé better watch out!
